Ter Stegen breaks his silence with a statement: "I am willing to cooperate."

Marc-André Ter Stegen, after being "temporarily" stripped of his captaincy by Barcelona , published a statement on social media this Friday in which he offered the club a hand in resolving the internal conflict that arose from his refusal to sign the authorization to send the medical report to LaLiga, which has led to disciplinary proceedings being opened by the club. "I am fully willing to collaborate with the club's management to resolve this matter and facilitate the required authorization," the conciliatory and constructive German goalkeeper now states in his statement. However, he also asserts that the recovery time, the main cause that led to the dispute with the club, which he announced before his operation, was a necessary "minimum recovery period" and that it was "communicated by the most reputable experts and always in coordination with the club."
In the article published in Catalan, Spanish, and English, Ter Stegen explained his experiences and perspective. “These past few months have been especially difficult for me, both physically and personally. […] In recent weeks, many things have been said about me, some of them completely unfounded. Therefore, I feel it is necessary to express my version of events respectfully, but clearly,” the article states.
The German explains that the decision to undergo surgery was made after consulting with medical professionals, "and was approved by the club," with the intention of prioritizing his long-term health. "Goals that, of course, are completely aligned with those of FC Barcelona, with the goal of being available as soon as possible to continue fighting for titles," he continues.
Ter Stegen also dismissed "certain speculation," asserting that the club's "signings and renewals" occurred before his operation, and therefore at no point did he consider his departure "necessary for the registration of other teammates" whom he "deeply" respects and with whom he "looks forward to sharing a dressing room for many seasons to come." "Any other interpretation seems unfair and inaccurate to me," he added.
In closing the statement, the goalkeeper appeals to his professionalism, respect, and commitment, as well as his love for Barcelona and its people. "My commitment to these colors remains total," he continues. "I understand that difficult times can generate tension, but I trust that, through dialogue and responsibility, we can resolve this situation constructively."
